Anise Spirit Dinner: Beefeater Gin
Hello again!!! I don’t know how we got here but Anise officially had their third spirit dinner of the season. This dinner featured Beefeater London Dry Gin.
According to their website, Beefeater is one of the world’s best selling gins and the world’s most awarded gin. The original recipe was concocted in 1863 and has been going strong ever since. The botanicals include juniper, lemon peel, coriander seed, almond, seville orange peel, orris root, liquorice root, angelica root and angelica seed.
This spirit dinner was of course held in the new private backroom bar at Anise, a concept that has been in the works for a couple of years. It’s such a beautiful space! I can’t wait for all of you to see it. It’s the perfect speakeasy, the perfect private event space and as I have learned from experience, the perfect space for a work “meeting.” I highly encourage you to have your functions here.
The ambience is perfect when the lights are dimmed. I stopped by the dinner a little early to grab some photos before the lights went down.
Side note, should you be interested in hosting a private party in our new private back room, please contact email@example.com <3
Tis Fall! And the Anise crew is not lacking in festive decor. These centerpieces were adorable and they effortlessly complemented the blue interior.
The Welcome cocktail. A little to wet the whistle. A little to buzz the bee.
I won’t lie. I was a tad bit disappointed these crystal vessels weren’t actual individual cocktail portions.
Oh! I forgot to mention that I brought along dates. Say Hi to Mom and my little sister, Rebecca.
Presentation at these spirit dinners is always such a sight to behold. These teacups garnished with perfect lemon twists and rosemary sprigs were filled tableside with a tea kettle. Boozy tea!
Pork Belly close up!
Let me shine some light on it! Photos do no justice. The savoriness of the pork terrine married so well with the coulis. I kept skating the doughnut atop the blueberry.
That’s Rebecca with her pinky out.
This second cocktail came with some varied characters.
Kudos to the member of the Anise team who spent the hours gutting these mini pumpkins and slapping these cute faces on them.
Off with their heads!
Some were more pleased than others.
Here’s Emmy <3 An artist of many sorts but for tonight, one specializing in Jack-o-lanterns.
Droppers full of MORE alcohol for your cocktail. Presentation is never disappointing at the spirit dinners. The creativity is boundless and the drinks forever flowing.
This course is probably at the top of my favorites. I read “diver scallop” and it’s all I could think about.
Look at this little creep lurking on my scallop and gnocchi.
By the way, big thanks to our GM, Christina, and her pasta making skills.
My creeper brought a friend. And he’s taunting me.
Next next next!
Pretty little things.
Sexy boozy pour.
And more pours.
Duck breast with a lavender gin reduction atop a charred jalapeno goat cheese.
And a side of spaghetti squash. Look at that beautiful piece of fat on the end . SwoOoOOoon.
This cocktail was made with Beefeater 24, a gin made with the usual botanicals as well as teas. The botanicals used are the same as the ones in the Beefeater London Dry Gin but they also added in grapefruit peels, Japanese sencha and Chinese green tea.
But not too pretty to eat :o)
The sneak peak.
Chef Mary and our Bar director, Ryan, giving the last course spiels.
At the end, Pernod-Ricard brand sales rep Alex Niremburg stepped in to give a few words and thanks.
What more do you need to know? What else are you waiting for? Jump on those tickets for the next spirit dinner. If you can’t wait til then, a little birdie told me Anise is having another Boozy Tea party on November 6th.
Until then, keep your gin up.
